This morning I was trying to sneak out of my house. I have an old home and all of the floors creak. Not cute little creaking but haunted house creaking and groaning. I had almost made it past a little boy's room when I heard this yell. The kind of yell a parent gives when a child is in danger, except this came from the child to the parent. "MOMMY! YOU CAN'T GO TO WORK! I MIGHT MISS YOU!"
I love how he had worded it. He would not miss me until his morning routine was over. Get up, pee, get the IPOD, play Angry Birds or the train game or the jet game or all of those games for about 30 min, then get dressed, wake up parent to open the door so he can walk Marty and then breakfast. So really I guess he knew I would not be missed until it was time to open the door to let him and the dog out for the morning walk. But then again, it was the word "might". He might not miss me at all. Daddy loves to spoil him. He gets extra tv time with daddy esp if there is golf on or daddy is working on the computer. Daddy will play soccer and basketball with him. Daddy will make chocolate milk for him. Daddy will give him the sugar cereal by its self and not mixed with the healthy cereal like mommy does. Daddy will play cars on the cool track Aunt Becky gave Gavin. Daddy will play racing games outside with Marty and Gavin. Daddy will make chicken nuggets and ketchup for lunch. Daddy will play hide and go seek. Daddy will let him play in the tub instead of having to wash his hair. Daddy will let Gavin wear whatever he wants no matter if it matches or not. So really I might not be missed at all.
Needless to say, mommy propped up Gavin in her bed with PBS Kids on the TV, a kiss on the forehead, promises to be back that afternoon and left.
I already miss Gavin.
The other day after I told Gavin it was time to head home, he said, "I really don't think I'm finished spending time with you." It's hard not to give him whatever he wants when he's so wonderful.
